Mauritius Honeymoon Packages
Mauritius Honeymoon Packages
Mauritius is perhaps one of the best-known honeymoon destinations in the world. The island offers a number of packages to cater to honeymooners, some of which include an island wedding ceremony followed by the traditional honeymoon. While some packages will organize your flights to and from the island, many start with a meet and greet service at the airport and then cover all your transport requirements around Mauritius itself, including transfers back to the airport at the end of your stay. A week’s accommodation is standard with many packages, but this can be extended if desired. Breakfast and dinner are generally included, with lunch being an extra that needs to be requested when booking your holiday. Romantic beachfront dinners are also often included. Most non-motorized water sports can be enjoyed on your honeymoon, and often multi-day sightseeing tours are also offered. Pampering spa treatments are standard in the honeymoon suites of some resorts.
Mauritius is a small island measuring only around 720 square miles in area. The island is volcanic and mountainous and lies roughly 2 000-kilometers off the southeastern coast of Africa. It is situated due east of Madagascar. The capital Port Louis has a small population of less than 200 000 people, making up a fair amount of the entire 1.2 million population. In terms of religion, Hindu people make up the majority of the population, with 51% of the locals practicing the religion. A further 31% are Christian, and 17% are Muslim. English is the official language of the island, but French, Creole, Hindi and Bhojpuri are also widely spoken. Urdu and Chinese can also often be heard among the locals. Perhaps one of the most famous food offerings in Mauritius is the ‘dholl purri’. This soft savoury pancake is in huge demand by both the locals and tourists and markets usually have long queues of people trying to get theirs. Getting into Mauritius generally requires both a passport and a visa. The visa requirement however is not applicable to visitors from Australia, Britain, Canada, Japan, the USA and other EU countries. Mauritius also doesn’t require vaccinations in order to enter the island, but some countries do recommend to their citizens that they have malaria and yellow fever inoculations as a precaution.
