Barra Beach Lodge
Barra Beach Lodge is set in one of the most picturesque areas in Mozambique amongst groves of coconut trees and boasting spectacular views of the Indian Ocean.
The lodge has secluded, unspoilt beaches and is bordered by the Inhambane estuary on one side and the sea on the other.
Barra Beach Lodge offers a choice of accommodation options to meet visitors needs. The lodge offers 19 Casitas, 1 Family Casita, 20 Self catering cottages and 2 Bunk Houses.
The traditional thatched Casitas are fitted with two beds, en-suite shower and toilet and boast spectacular sea views from their location a few steps from the beach. The self catering cottages each have 2 bedrooms, a combined lounge and dining area, kitchen, shower and separate toilet. The cottages are fitted with 6 comfortable single beds, a fridge, 2 plate gas stove and basic amenities including cutlery, crockery, pots, pans, utensils and bedding linen and are serviced daily.
The bunk houses at Barra Beach Lodge are aimed at backpackers and budget travelers and consist of 4 rooms, each with 2 double bunk beds and a central sitting and cooking area. The bunk houses are fitted with a deep freeze, gas stove and basic pots.
The facilities at Barra Lodge include a beach restaurant where dinner is served on a patio overlooking the sparkling pool with a choice of the best local ingredients and fresh seafood. A delicious buffet dinner is offered twice a week at the beautiful tropical beach bar where pub lunches and snacks are served daily.
Barra offers endless activities and with the warm waters of the Indian Ocean, guests can enjoy safe bathing all year round, some of the best snorkelling and diving in Southern Africa where visitors can enjoy the myriad of colourful reef fish, corals and possibly the rare Dugong. The area is an anglerÃs paradise for game fish including Sailfish and Marlin. Guests can enjoy an exhilarating horse ride through the coconut plantations, a traditional Dhow sailing trip, or wander a trail by boat or on foot through the salt water mangrove and catch a glimpse of a wide range of plants and crustaceans.
There are a number of water sports available including water skiing, parasailing and catamaran sailing. Alternatively, four wheel motor buggies can be hired for visitors to explore the areas less traveled.
