Cheap Flights for 2011 Holiday Season

Discounted flights for the 2011 holiday season

The holiday season is fast approaching, and holiday planning becomes a little more frantic as consumers search to find the cheapest flights on offer from the low cost domestic airlines in South Africa. Despite the gloomy economy, the substantial rise in fuel prices and potential shortage of fuel, and the most newsworthy 70% increase in airport tariffs from ACSA on the domestic airlines for passenger service, landing and aircraft parking charges, on 1 October 2011, South African consumers can still look forward to affordable flights on offer throughout the season.

For the 2011/2012 holiday season Velvet Sky, South Africa’s newest low cost domestic airline, is offering travelers a variety specials to their destinations within the country.

Their current special prices* on flights include:

Johannesburg to Durban from R342
Johannesburg to Polokwane from R320
Johannesburg to Cape Town Flights from 529
Durban to Port Elizabeth from R439
Durban to Cape Town from R439
Port Elizabeth to Cape Town from R439

Low cost airline Velvet Sky recently entered the Eastern Cape market, with the official launch of its flights to Port Elizabeth which took place on 4 November 2011. The airline plans to operate four flights per week, from Durban to Port Elizabeth and from Cape Town to Port Elizabeth.

Not to be outdone, the longest standing low cost airline has released their latest flight specials for one-way flights in South Africa to their domestic destinations for the holiday season including:

Johannesburg to Cape Town from R499
Johannesburg to Durban from R399
Cape Town to Durban from R599
Durban to Port Elizabeth from R499

These flights are offered on Kulula’s “early bird catches the seat” special which is valid on selected flights until February 29 2012.

*Specials are available directly on each respective airline’s website, and may be over already. We are merely reporting that the airlines did have these prices at some stage, for some flights.
