Velvet Sky, SA’s newest low cost airline, has extended its routes to now offer cheap flights not only on the golden triangle (Johannesburg, Cape Town, and Durban), but now to Polokwane. Starting on the 30 September 2011 Velvet Sky Airlines will be flying to Polokwane from Johannesburg. The price looks to be around R799 (one way) all inclusive. I think that they might be the only airline at the moment who are flying scheduled flights to Polokwane, although SA Airlink might still fly it. Although demand won’t be nearly as high, the competition should be extremely low, giving Velvet Sky some room to breath with regards pricing.
