We have been hearing rumours about a new airline that will be launching in South Africa soon. We do not yet know whether it will be a low cost or full service airline, but it will most likely only offer domestic flights, specifically between Durban, Johannesburg and Cape Town. The name is apparently going to be Velvet Sky, with the website being www.velvetsky.co.za, it may also be called FlyVelvetSky. At the moment it is going through the relevant process of being registered and verified by the Aviation Authorities. However this should not take more than a few more weeks, as it is in advance stages. No mention has yet been made about the owners or financial backers of Velvet Sky. Is there room for another domestic airline in South Africa?
