Sport Fishing is one of the popular pastimes at Indigo Bay, and visitors can experience some of the most spectacular fishing in the world. The deep Mozambique channel is home to some of the world’s most exciting game fish including species such as Kingfish, Queenfish, Barracuda, Mackerel and Yellowfin Tuna. Many intrepid fishermen try their hand at catching the Giant Black Marlin, Sailfish or Wahoo. And catches are almost guaranteed. The sheer abundance and diversity of inshore species at Indigo Bay makes it an ideal destination for light-tackle rock and shore fishing as well as salt water fly fishing.
The protected Bazaruto Marine National Park is a scuba diver’s paradise and a host of exiting dives is offered from Indigo Bay to explore the reefs. Reef fish such as barracuda, kingfish and manta rays can be seen. Some of the more notable dive sites around the area are Brindle Bass Ridge, Manta Ray Reef, Turtle Ridge and Zenguelema Point. ish.
Indigo Bay is also an ideal destination for dolphin and humpback whale spotting between August and October and whale sharks between April and July. The Leatherback, loggerhead and green turtles are often seen in the water, coming ashore to lay their eggs on Bazaruto’s sandy beaches.
